Austin to Amarillo is a long drive, Sunday afternoon was rainy, dark and boring with long uneventful Texas highways, didn't figure we'd make it all the way so we took our time. Abilene looked like a destination for the night. The little towns we passed through on our way were either desolate and boarded up or cute little farming communities with tiny downtown's similar to Sutton's Bay.

Abilene, not much to report here, arrived late and tired. At at a Logan's Roadhouse and stayed in a Holiday Inn Express. The continental breakfast and coffee we're bad, really bad.
